have already begun their glob trotting adventure.
Now, some might view this as reckless, as something any financial advisor would strongly recommend against doing; but I see this as a perfect example of what Life By The Pie™ is all about. What this couple is doing may not be your ideal choice, it may not be mine but it’s not our lives it’s theirs. What struck me most about this story is how they chose to plan this out instead of jumping in with reckless abandon. It’s the planning part that’s most important; the what is up to each one of us. Their plan allows them to achieve this dream without going into debt for it and they have employment waiting for when they get back so they can jump back into the game. So for whatever choice you make, as long as it’s made with an understanding of what’s involved and what the Opportunity Costs are; go for it.
This couple saw an opportunity to live a life that’s more fulfilling to them and made use of our financial tools to help them achieve it. Their story is unique for sure, and I don’t necessarily advocate selling your house or quitting your job, but I certainly do recommend taking a good look at your spending habits to see how you can add a little more fulfillment to your own life.
